Lido Pimienta is a Toronto-based, Colombian-born musician, interdisciplinary artist, and curator. She has performed, exhibited, and curated around the world since 2002, exploring the politics of gender, race, motherhood, identity and the construct of the Canadian landscape in the Latin American diaspora and vernacular. Her latest album Miss Colombia takes her ecstatic hybridity to a new level, building on the “nu” intersection of electronica and cumbia established by her first two albums, Color, released in 2010, and the 2017 Polaris Prize-winning La Papessa, as Canadian album of the year. Pimienta has garnered multiple award nominations, including a 2020 Latin Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album and a 2021 Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock, Urban, or Alternative Album.

Lido Pimienta est une musicienne, artiste interdisciplinaire et commissaire d’origine colombienne résidant à Toronto. Depuis 2002, elle a performé, exposé et agi à titre de commissaire dans le monde entier, explorant les politiques liées au genre, à la race, à la maternité, à l’identité et à la construction du paysage socio-politique canadien dans la diaspora latino-américaine et vernaculaire. Son dernier album, Miss Colombia, porte son hybridité extatique à un nouveau niveau, s’appuyant sur l’intersection « nouvelle » entre l’electronica et la cumbia. Cet amalgame est né de ses deux premiers albums, soit Color, sorti en 2010, et La Papessa, lauréat du prix Polaris 2017 dans la catégorie « Album canadien de l’année ». Pimienta a remporté plusieurs nominations, dont une aux Latin Grammy 2020 pour le meilleur album de musique alternative et une autre aux Grammy 2021 pour le meilleur album de rock latin, urbain ou alternatif.
