Shary Boyle and Rajni Perera - Mural Print for Inspirations Studio
Shary Boyle and Rajni Perera - Mural Print for Inspirations Studio
Shary Boyle and Rajni Perera join in collaboration to create an editioned print version of their 15-foot mural celebrating the reopening of Inspirations Studio, a low-barrier ceramics workshop and storefront that supports marginalized women in Toronto facing displacement, trauma, and homelessness.
The Studio’s core mission is to contribute to improving women’s lives through the making and selling of pottery. Through creative, therapeutic and skill-building work, women gain self-confidence and stability while connecting to community, gaining a source of supplemental income, and finding a new way to engage with the world as makers. Art—and clay in particular— can bring change and offer healing, while giving people purpose, pride, passion and joy.
The permanent mural and print features pottery pulled from various time periods and world cultures, producing a cheerful palette of colours. Adorned with fanciful designs and floral arrangements, the scene is structured by two welcoming hands seemingly placing the scene as one views it.
This print by Shary Boyle and Rajni Perera is available to purchase through Patel Brown Gallery.
25% of proceeds from each print will go towards funding for Inspirations Studio programming and workshops, to continue support for their work in improving women’s lives through the making and selling of pottery.
We encourage you to visit Inspirations Studio December 11-12 from 12pm-5pm at 389 Church Street for their 27th Annual Holiday Market & Open House.
